Progress...

My group members for the slowest robot challenge are Eugene, Sean, and Eric. We have made a lot of progress on our robot. We have a 1:625 gear ratio which we have accomplished through the use of both sides of beams. We began with a 1:5 gear ratio which we extended to the other size to another 8 tooth gear which is connected to a 40 tooth gear. We continued doing so until we got to our current ratio. We utilized a worm gear to slow down the robot and to give it enough power to run since it is extremely heavy. We experienced a problem with getting the drive wheel to touch the floor so we used vertical spacing technices to extend our gear ratio down low enough so that the drive wheel touched the floor. Along with the help of Mr. Daly Eugene and I found out that it will take about 50 to 60 minutes for our drive wheel to spin once. Therefore, we will tell Mr. Wright that there should be a limit to how slow the robot goes unless we want the slowest robot trial to take hours to do.
